Booking

Bookings are secured with a non-refundable deposit of £100 and using the booking form: CorfBookFrm.pdf.

Places are allocated on a first come basis. There are 15 places available.

Retreat

Because of the varying arrival times, we will gather after breakfast on Sat 15th  and the course will commence then. The retreat will close at 1pm on Monday 24th.

The retreat is open to anyone interested in learning or furthering their tai chi and qigong. Beginners as well as experienced players are welcome.

We will play and study the White Crane Qigong; Tai Chi Short Form; Pushing Hands and Da Lu. The form is the Cheng Man Ching style though players from any style are welcome as we’ll be working a lot with core principles.

Accommodation

Casa Lucia offers a selection of self-catering cottages, which you can see on their website. Rooms are shared – two to a room.

There are a limited number of single rooms available for an additional £130.

Food

The food that we provide for suppers and breakfast is lacto-vegetarian based on the available seasonal veg and fruit, which is pretty good in Greece at this time of year. There is also the opportunity to eat out for 3 evenings.

Lunch you provide for yourself – the cottages are well equipped for self-catering, there’s a good selection of supermarkets nearby and a taverna 5 minutes walk away.

**If you would like a welcome supper on the first evening, please include this on your booking form. We’ve not included it as part of the deal because some flights arrive late. We can put food back for you if you like.**

Taxis and Car Hire – arriving and getting about

Casa Lucia is 10km from the airport. Driving, it’s good to allow half an hour, though it’s more likely to take fifteen minutes.  

Car Hire - We highly recommend that you hire a car or team up to hire one as a group. Having a car gives you flexibility for getting about and will allow you to visit the better parts of the island. It means that we can all visit the wilder west coast of the island together where I hope we can experience some chi on the beach.

The taxi fare from the airport (10km) to Casa Lucia is 25 eur, whether one or four people, day or night-time.  Val, who owns CL says “For the same price we can arrange with the very reliable taxi driver we always use to meet and pick people up from the airport.  The car hire people will also meet flights at the airport, but charge 15 euros for deliveries between 20.00 and 08.00.  If people want to take a taxi from the airport, then the car hire company will deliver the car to Casa Lucia the next day or whenever they want.”

Geography, beaches etc:

The nearest beach is Dassia, 3km away,  which is not one of the most glorious of Corfu's many: Paleocastritsa on the west coast is 10 km, and is beautiful in spite of being such a famous resort - there is a good bus service which passes the bottom of the road. All buses go back into Corfu town so that is the most frequent service. With a car you can get to the really beautiful beaches which usually aren't on a bus route.

Timetable:

The timetable has not yet been structured in detail but essentially each day there will be a pre-breakfast session, a mid morning  and an early evening session.

Afternoons are free for exploring/swimming/relaxing.

During the 10 days we will take a couple of days out to visit the west coast where we can play our tai chi by the sea.
