The Course:
The 4 intensive w/ends of The Development Group give you the opportunity for an in-depth personal journey. I see my job as a guide, helping you to explore, develop, deepen and enrich your practice through the framework of the Living Movement Tai Chi and its 5 core principles of Freeing, Aligning, Focusing, Sensing and Being.

We'll look together in some depth (see below) at
• The Living Movement Tai Chi and Qigong Exercises for Health
• Tai chi form - principles and practice
• Free form
• Interactive tai chi with application, set piece and freestyle pushing hands

always weaving movement and meaning, theory and pratice together.

Starting from where you are in your journey, you will be encouraged to look freshly and objectively at the ways that you move, alone and in relation to others, meeting the challenges that inevitably arise and enjoying the breakthroughs that inevitably happen.

these are the main areas covered:

• The 5 Key Themes of Living Movement
Experiencing how freeing, aligning, focusing, sensing and being are at the heart of tai chi play

• The Living Movement Exercises for Health
you’ll learn how to do them and what they do for you in terms of physical health, mental balance, energy levels and subtle body energies.

• Dr. Chi's sequence of the Cheng Man Ching Short Form
Working collectively with key principles, energies and applications. Postrures are investigated in some depth to bring out the varoius meanings, focus and applications for each move. Working individually to further your own sequence in your own time.

• Free Form
This plays an important role in Living Movement as it enables you to uncover your own fluency in movement and understand the way your body works best.

• Working with Others
Firmly anchored in the philosophy of 'dynamic yielding', you'll learn to explore these themes in set piece and freestyle approaches to pushing hands.
A Da Lu partner form is learned as part of this.

• Inspiration from Nature
Perhaps the key purpose in tai chi and qigong is to develop a sense of balance in oneself and with the world around. Directly linking in with the natural world can be a simple, powerful experience that helps us in this process.

The course welcomes players in the field of tai chi and qigong who are passionate about taking their journey further. Experienced and less experienced players are equally welcome although the course is not open to fresh beginners.

The group dynamic that evolves and sense of collective support and respect for oneanother that develops, becomes important in the shaping of the overall experience.

The intensity of the learning tends to be healthily balanced with good meals, drinking coffee and eating flapjacks. In fact eating and chatting together is one of the great joys of the course. All meals are provided for the fully residential participants as well as for people attending on a non-res basis.

The maximum group size of 14 means that you receive a favourably high level of guidance, tuition and peer interaction.
