Becoming an Instructor in the School of Living Movement

For People Inspired with the Living Movement approach to Tai Chi and Life ……………

First and foremost, to become an instructor in Living Movement you need an enthusiastic enjoyment of Living Movement Tai Chi.
You'll be encouraged to work with passion and dedication and if you are starting from scratch then expect an absolute minimum of 3 years before qualifying.
You will be encouraged to attend as many courses and workshops as is appropriate to your level and pace of development.

You will need to attend at least one Development Group, depending on your level of experience.

When training as an instructor you'll develop a working and practical understanding of :

• The 5 Core Principles of Living Movement - Freeing; Aligning; Focusing; Sensing and Being.
• Tai Chi Movement - its essential principles; how and why it works
• Dr. Chi's version of the Cheng Man Ching Short Form
• The Living Movement Tai Chi and Qigong exercises for health
• Interactive Tai Chi with set piece and freestyle pushing hands
• Movement and Self-Development

....... and the ability to communicate all of these areas clearly and well.

Assessments for instructorship are currently made on an individual basis. This means that you have the opportunity to move, progress and develop at a pace that works for you.

Then, as and when appropriate, you will be recommended to the Tai Chi Union Of Great Britain (TCUGB) to become a recognised tai chi instructor.

Training to become an instructor can happen right away. You create your own course from the classes and courses on offer. Sometimes, if, a group of people are at the same sort of level, then a group course (or series) takes place.

Once you have qualified, you then qualify for attending the Living Movement Instructors' CPD gatherings (CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development)
