Retreats in
Devon and Cornwall
There are currently 2 types of Living Movement Retreat:
There are the 'Open Retreats'
which welcome all-comers - people new to
tai chi as well as the very experienced;
These are for you if you fancy a restorative weekend of tai chi, good company,
good food and 'soul inspiration'.
And there are the 'Developmental Retreats'
which are seriously intensive!
These are for you if you're a player with experience in the tai chi game
looking to deepen and develop all aspects of your practice;
The 5 Core Principles of Living Movement act as a framework;
And there's detailed instruction given with loads of pushing hands and intensive
form exploration.

THE WHITE CRANE QIGONG is a fabulous 5 part form (approx 25 mins to play through) which you'll find is easy and straightforward to learn but carries a profound depth. It's accessible to a wide range of people and the mix of gentle and invigourating moves create an inspiring form of qigong that strengthens the body and refreshes the mind. I first learned the White Crane Qigong in 1987 with Alan Peck and again later in the same year directly from Dr. Chi Chiang -Tao, in Vancouver, Canada. The White Crane has lent a creative influence over the years to the development of Living Movement. The White Crane Form is the one set out in my DK publication "Secrets of Qigong". I recommend getting this from Amazon if you require a manual for the course. You learn the whole 5 part sequence over the 2 days |
Summer Camp 08 runs from 5 - 10th August (4pm Tues till after lunch on Sunday)
You are welcome as a complete novice or seasoned tai chi enthusiast to come and enjoy, share, play, learn, feast, chat, play frisbee and generally have a good time with 5 days of tai chi, qigong and a great gathering of people.

the scene:
The camp runs under the leadership of Angus Clark, and takes place at South
Dornaford Farm (EX20 3RJ) which sits in 200 acres of meadow and woodland bordering
the river Okement, near Okehampton and Dartmoor, Devon. As well as all the excellent
tai chi we have:
• Chanting and Voice Improvisation with Vaughn Gallavan
• African & Taiko Drumming with Jason Davis and Steve Sutcliffe
And for reaching extra depths of relaxation you can book a
• Whole Body or Seated Acupressure Massage with Aly Clark
Not only is there really
great food and good company but you’ll also have the chance to
slow down, lie in a meadow, touch the sky, listen to the river, breathe good
air, play frisbee, reconnect with yourself, with others and with the natural
world.
One of the rewarding aspects of the event for campers is the community atmosphere
that develops. Everyone helps with the daily needs like collecting wood for
the campfire, water for the solar showers or helping in the kitchen.
In the evening you can sit under the stars
by the camp fire and relax
Just bring your tent (if you’re camping),
toothbrush and sleeping bag, wine for the evenings – there are shops in
the nearby town of Okehampton – sunhat, waterproofs, swimming costume
and warm top and that’s it!
Although the timetable is never set in stone, this'll give you a pretty good idea of how it shapes up
