Let's Move!
because movement is life and life is movement......

Welcome to Living Movement
Tai Chi, Qigong and Natural Movement with Angus Clark

21 February 2021
Hi - I hope that you are managing to keep well in body and mind in these challenging times.
I'm finding the tai chi to be most helpful at the moment; hopefully you will be able to find the same.
We have all been finding our way with online classes and material as a way to keep in touch and keep moving.
In many ways it's working  well. As we move into spring time here in the UK we're continuing online classes
and will be looking for opportunities to get together indoors and out as soon as possible.

WEEKLY CLASSES ARE RUNNING ONLINE
THE ONLINE STEP BY STEP TAI CHI FORM CLASS CONTINUES EACH TUESDAY
Everyone is welcome

Angus Clark, founder of Living Movement has been playing the tai chi game for 35 years. He is based in Devon, UK. A lot of his work is nature based.
Living Movement is Angus's take on tai chi and qigong. It recognises how this type of attentive, natural movement can play a fundamental role in the broad spectrum of human health and fulfilment.
With Angus you can learn the Tai Chi Essence with a collection of moves and exercises; the classic Dr. Chi / Cheng Man-Ching Short Form; as well as the Long Form; Tai Chi Sword; White Crane Qigong; and the 2 person practices of San Shou (dance), Da Lu and Pushing Hands.
TOP NEWS FOR THIS MONTH IS ...
The findings of the research into the effects of Living Movement Tai Chi conducted by Jules Pretty over the last few years are out and published! The paper appears here in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.

A really good way to stay in touch is to sign up for the monthly newsletter.
Here you will find links to films, articles, and tutorials and it keeps you up to date with what's happening when and where - in virtual or real space!
You may also like to keep up to date via my Facebook page

You can learn more and try things out on my Living Movement Tai Chi You Tube channel, which offers an excellent collection and selection of free learning material that I add to frequently.

If you'd like to learn/study further/relearn Tai Chi Form sequence, (Cheng Man Ching style) there's a Step By Step class currently running and you are welcome to join anytime.
I highly recommend
Tai Chi with Angus Clark, one of the best tutorials available for learning the Tai Chi Form. You can buy and download from from Vimeo on Demand or order the DVD.

Or if you'd like some easy exercises for health that can live on your phone or tablet, then Move For your Life: 21 Qigong Exercises for Vitality  is also from Vimeo on Demand or order the DVD

Most people like to play purely for the fun and sense of wellbeing that you get from this movement art. But if you’re one of those people who’d like to take it further then no problem - you can study with Angus in depth and become a recognised instructor of the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain.

Tai Chi in Nature ....
Tai Chi is based on the way things like to work - natural principles, rhythms and cycles.
Practicing the tai chi outside, therefore, can be most uplifting, bringing insight and inspiration.
And no surprises really - green exercise and time in nature have been proven to be good for us:
'We have undertaken a decade of research into the contexts, effects and outcomes of green exercise and nature-based interventions, showing clearly and in a wide variety of contexts that physical activity in the presence of nature improves health and well-being' (Pretty et al., 2005, 2007, 2011, 2015; Hine et al., 2008; Barton and Pretty, 2010; Barton et al., 2009, 2012, 2016; Gladwell et al., 2012; Pretty, 2013; Rogerson et al., 2015; Wood et al., 2015).
