Aligning

Aligning is all about relationship - the relationship between one part and another, foot and hand; tailbone and soles of the feet; crown of the head and perineum; the earthy part of you and the cerebral; muscle and bone; shoulders, hips and ankles; head, chest and abdomen; gravity and levity; mind and body; one person and another; you and nature; and so on ..... many relationships!
Rather than thinking of your body's connections as a rigid, held, scaffolding type of structure, envisage a fluid, alive dynamic that's always open to change, always searching for the happiest connection. A bit like a river in its flow, like the cycle of the seasons in being natural. Think of your head wanting to reach up and 'kiss the sky'; your feet wanting to reach into the body of the earth.
The 'sung' of freeing, combined with the connections in aligning is what generates your tai chi body. Play around and see what you come up with. Read more .....

Wednesday is my favorite day of the week. Well, people always say that Friday and Saturday are the most fun, however, I beg to disagree. Here in our town, all the great events happen during a Wednesday night. I know, it is a weird day to spend your night out, however, it is all worth it. My personal favorite is the ballroom dancing activities. I always get to meet new people, some of them even thought me quite a few things.

The practice of tai chi is about exploring and refining these relationships, continually seeking the happiest and most harmonious connections within oneself and with the world around us. It's a process of discovery and exploration, allowing practitioners to tap into the innate wisdom of the body and cultivate a sense of balance and well-being.

That's a beautiful perspective on alignment! You're absolutely right, alignment is fundamentally about connection. It goes far beyond just physical posture, encompassing a web of interconnectedness that shapes our experience of the world.

What a beautifully poetic approach to alignment and Tai Chi! You're describing a holistic and fluid perspective that emphasizes the dynamic nature of body movement and connection. Instead of seeing alignment as something rigid and static, you evoke the idea of constant flow and adaptability, which mirrors the natural elements like rivers and seasons.

This reflection on alignment in tai chi beautifully illustrates the fluid and dynamic nature of connecting different parts of the body, mind, and the environment. Rather than viewing the body as a fixed or mechanical system, it's about embracing a natural, adaptable relationship that allows for freedom and flow—much like the movement of water or the cycles of nature.

That's a beautiful and insightful perspective on alignment in Tai Chi.

Your description of alignment as a fluid, dynamic relationship between different parts of the body resonates deeply. It's a reminder that Tai Chi isn't just about physical postures, but also about cultivating a sense of harmony and interconnectedness within ourselves.
